Our community support officer Daniel Wilce (daniel.wilce@gloucestershire.police.uk) has had a very busy summer with Alvington. He has been  great ambassador for the Police force and greatly liked and appreciated. He will be posting notices on our web site [this page] as and when possible.

Garlands road has become a 'No Cold Calling' area with notices posted by Dan and myself. The community has the Neighbourhood Watch in place; with already several warning notices posted to the Coordinator Gary Collier, all with positive results of arrest and detention.

PCSO Wilce news update

As of the 30th May 2011 you will notice that myself and my colleagues will be wearing a new distinctive uniform as part of Gloucestershire Constabulary’s cost savings. Instead of the traditional outfit consisting of a white shirt, dark tie, and trousers, PCSO’s will be wearing blue wicking shirts and black cargo-style trousers and Constables black wicking shirts and black cargo-style trousers.

Hello, My name is Dan Wilce and I am a Police Community Support Officer operating in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. I would like to explain more about the role of a PCSO and what I do within the local community".

As a PCSO I am usually the first point of contact that you the public have. My role includes dealing with local incidents such as Anti-Social Behaviour and stopping these problems before they get out of hand. We also work closely with our partner agencies such as Street Wardens and of course the local Parish Councils.

Working with these agencies can bring an end to most of the low-grade crimes such as graffiti or criminal damage which most of the areas around the forest suffer from.

cid:image002.png@01CB4E86.7264E470I also offer is giving Crime Prevention advice either by conducting a Home survey, where we can point out (if needed) any home safety advice or equipment needed. We can also supply most of the locks, alarms etc at a discount price through our Crime Reduction Officer PC Bob Lloyd at Cinderford Police Station. The alarms can also be obtained through your local Neighbourhood Watch.

Additionally, we visit the local Primary Schools and build up a good rapport with both pupils and teachers alike. This helps us build up relationships with the children and they can see that we are approachable and they can talk to us when we are on our Hi- viz foot patrols around the villages in our Parishes.

We also hold Police information points (PIPs) around all our Parishes [See below for more information]. These are held to give the public from each area the opportunity to tell us any concerns they may have or provide any information that may be relevant to local crime prevention. We in turn take this information and pass this on to the appropriate departments and sort these problems out for you as soon as possible.

Police information points (PIPs)

PIPs are a two-way communication point between the police and the public. These local sessions are held to provide an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have, or share any information you feel appropriate to help police our community.

I will give you information about local incidents or issues that may be relevant to you, plus I can offer advice on a wide range of matters and put you in touch with other specialist agencies for guidance & support if appropriate.

So whatever your age, whatever is troubling you, be it home security, anti-social behaviour, bullying, vandalism, drugs & alcohol issues etc, you can drop in for a confidential chat at any of the forthcoming Police Information Points listed below.
